French Company Alan Secures $54M Series C To Expand Digital Health Insurance Across Europe

, a Paris-based digital health insurance provider, has closed a 鈧50 million (approx $54 million) Series C round led by Singapore鈥檚 Temasek, with support from other investors such as Index Ventures. The funding brings the company鈥檚 total amount raised to 鈧125 million ($136 million).

鈥淥nce the world begins to emerge from the COVID-19 health crisis, we believe that patients鈥 expectations and demands on the health care system will lead to a much faster transition to digital solutions,鈥 said Jean-Charles Samuelian, co-founder and CEO of Alan.

鈥淭his is not just about convenience, but about delivering better care.鈥

The French insurtech company has built a platform that gives users access to medical professionals, both through in-person appointments and by video calls. Within the app, users can search medical advice, find doctors, and manage insurance claims and reimbursements.

Designed for individuals and companies, the digital insurance currently covers over 75,000 members, according to a press release. Several features cater to HR teams, with the hopes of snagging enterprise clients and becoming 鈥渁n HR gateway for employee health and well-being鈥.

When founded in 2016, the company claimed to be the first independent insurance licensed in France in 30 years. Just last year, Alan closed a 鈧40 million Series B (led by Index Ventures) and grew its 200-person team with new offices in Spain and Belgium. The plan is to expand into 鈥渕ost European countries鈥 within the next five years.
